Construction Safety Specialist - Summary
- Support the Safety Team in the development, implementation, and maintenance of comprehensive safety programs.

- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations, including MSHA, OSHA, and DOT.
- Contribute to hazard identification, safety training, compliance monitoring, and incident prevention efforts.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external agencies to maintain industry-leading safety standards.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead by example in fostering a safety-first culture across the organization.
- Support the implementation and alignment of safety initiatives with company core values.
- Assist with monitoring and maintaining compliance with MSHA, OSHA, DOT, and EPA regulations.
- Participate in hazard identification, risk assessment, and the recommendation of corrective actions.
- Help develop and facilitate safety training programs, ensuring employee awareness and engagement.
- Assist in the execution of safety audits, inspections, and compliance assessments, following up on corrective measures.
- Support incident response activities, including investigations, root cause analysis, and reporting.
- Compile and analyze safety data, metrics, and trends to inform continuous improvement strategies.
- Work with Risk Management and HR to monitor and support claims management and loss prevention efforts.
- Contribute to the coordination and implementation of accident-prevention and loss-control programs.
- Serve as a technical resource on safety procedures, best practices, and regulatory updates.
- Maintain effective relationships with regulatory agencies, industry associations, and safety organizations.
- Participate in the development and maintenance of emergency response and preparedness plans.
- Represent the company in safety-related industry meetings and regulatory discussions.
- Adapt to business needs, including travel to support operations and special projects as assigned.
- Maintain accurate claim files, training records, and documentation to support compliance and safety management.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Associate’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Construction Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related field (required).
- Minimum two years of experience in safety program management within construction, aggregates, ready-mix concrete, cement, or a related heavy industry, or extensive industry experience with a strong safety focus.
- Proficiency in OSHA regulations and experience in ensuring compliance within industrial or construction environments.
- Experience with Safety Management Systems (SMS), Behavior-Based Safety (BBS), risk assessments, safety training, and incident investigations.
- Strong communication, coaching, and organizational skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel as required.
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in a related field or certifications such as CHST or OHST. Additional experience with MSHA, DOT, and FMCSA regulations, root cause analysis, occupational health systems, and bilingual skills (English/Spanish) are advantageous.
