Construction Safety Coordinator - Summary
- Key contributor to the implementation and oversight of comprehensive safety programs for large-scale commercial and industrial construction projects.
- Focuses on training, documentation, compliance, and fostering a positive safety culture across all project sites and fabrication shops.
- Serves as a liaison between field personnel, management, and clients to ensure clear communication and consistent safety practices.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Implement and enforce company safety policies, procedures, and programs at construction sites and fabrication shops.
- Train all employees on safety practices, including leading New Hire Orientation and delivering live training for Competent Persons (Confined Space, Fall Protection, Excavation and Trenching, etc.).
- Maintain and update all site safety documentation, ensuring accuracy and accessibility for audits and inspections.
- Conduct regular site safety reviews and audits, documenting findings and recommending corrective actions as needed.
- Lead accident investigations, identify root causes, and recommend preventive measures to avoid recurrence.
- Work closely with the Company Loss Control Team to address emerging safety issues and implement best practices.
- Be present and available during high-risk activities such as crane operations to ensure compliance with safety procedures.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients, project managers, and field personnel, building trust and promoting a culture of safety.
- Model safe behaviors and provide coaching and counseling to support continuous improvement in safety performance.
- Perform other safety-related duties as assigned to support overall project and organizational safety goals.

Qualifications & Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; advanced education or certifications in safety or construction management preferred.
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience in construction safety management for large commercial and industrial projects.
- At least 5 years of total safety experience in a related field.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA and Cal-OSHA safety regulations and compliance requirements.
- OSHA 500 Certification preferred, or ability to obtain certification within 6 months of hire.
- Current First Aid/CPR training required.
- Proficiency in Office 365 applications, including Word, Excel, and email communication.
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a collaborative team.
