Construction Project Manager (OAR, CCM, PM) - Summary
In this role, you will serve as the Owner’s Authorized Representative, overseeing multifaceted construction projects from pre-construction through close-out. You will be the primary liaison between the client, contractors, consultants, and public agencies, ensuring that all project objectives are achieved with a focus on quality, compliance, and stakeholder satisfaction. Your responsibilities will include managing project schedules, budgets, and documentation, as well as ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and district standards.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee all phases of construction projects, including pre-construction, bidding, construction, and close-out processes.
- Review and provide feedback on pre-construction documents to ensure they align with project requirements and objectives.
- Coordinate with public agencies, district departments, and stakeholders to ensure all regulatory and off-site requirements are met.
- Prepare and deliver detailed project status reports to senior leadership, highlighting progress, potential risks, and key milestones.
- Manage project budgets and schedules, aligning with program goals and district standards to ensure successful project delivery.
- Regularly monitor financial performance to ensure budgets accurately reflect project progress and expenditures.
- Oversee contractor activities, including construction schedule management, submittal review, and response to RFIs and RFCs.
- Evaluate substitution requests and change orders, ensuring compliance with specifications and fair, transparent pricing.
- Process payments for contractors, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders in accordance with project agreements.
- Administer professional service agreements and coordinate delivery of district-furnished equipment and fixtures.
- Oversee project close-out activities, including DSA certification and comprehensive financial reconciliation.
- Perform other project-related duties as assigned to support overall program success.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum 10 years of full-time professional experience in construction and/or project management.
- At least 3 years managing complex projects with construction values exceeding $10 million.
- Demonstrated experience delivering commercial, public works, or educational facility projects, with preference for LAUSD or similar district experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, OR an alternative degree with the ability to obtain a Certified Construction Manager (CCM) credential within one year, OR active CCM certification in lieu of a degree.
- Expertise in project budgeting, cost control, financial oversight, scheduling, progress tracking, contract administration, and regulatory compliance.
- Strong skills in stakeholder coordination, construction document review, and design team collaboration.
- Familiarity with DSA processes, Building Information Modeling (BIM), OSHA safety standards, and LEED or high-performance building projects is highly desirable.
- Preferred credentials include CCM, Licensed Architect, or Professional Engineer (PE).
