Construction Project Manager (CCM) - Summary
- Lead highly visible construction projects for major public sector clients, ensuring successful delivery from inception to completion.
- Provide senior-level expertise in project management, stakeholder coordination, contract administration, and financial oversight.
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to drive progress and resolve complex challenges throughout the project lifecycle.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Direct and manage multiple large-scale construction projects, ensuring strict adherence to project scope, budget, and schedule.
- Act as the primary liaison between educational district representatives, internal leadership, consultants, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
- Monitor construction progress, identify risks, and implement corrective action plans as needed to maintain schedule integrity.
- Review, negotiate, and manage change orders, understanding the full impact on cost and timelines.
- Administer contracts for architects, engineers, and consulting partners, ensuring compliance with all public agency requirements.
- Monitor project financials, including budget management, forecasting, cost controls, and payment applications.
- Resolve complex construction-related issues, disputes, and claims in accordance with public sector policies and standards.
- Support procurement and bidding processes, including the development of bid packages and evaluation of contractor proposals.
- Coordinate with internal departments such as Environmental Health & Safety, Facilities Planning, Asset Management, Inspection, and Maintenance & Operations.
- Maintain comprehensive project documentation, reporting, and audit readiness in line with public agency protocols.
- Provide direction and oversight to Owner’s Authorized Representatives (OARs) and project support staff.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by developing and implementing best practices for program delivery.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum of 17 years of professional experience in project and/or construction management.
- At least 5 years of experience managing large capital programs, with individual project values exceeding $50 million.
- Demonstrated success delivering projects in public school districts, higher education, or comparable public works settings.
- Expertise in public sector contract administration, cost control, budgeting, CPM scheduling, and project controls.
- Proficiency with claims avoidance, dispute resolution, change management, and quality assurance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and industry experience.
- Eligibility to obtain Certified Construction Manager (CCM) certification within one year if not currently held.
- Preferred: Experience with LAUSD, DSA processes, Design-Build projects, BIM tools, and LEED-certified programs.
- Preferred: Active CCM, Licensed Architect, or Professional Engineer (PE).
