Construction Project Manager Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Construction Project Manager for a full-time opportunity in Long Beach, CA. As a Construction Project Manager, you will play a crucial role in leading and executing complex construction projects, with a particular focus on educational and public works facilities. This position requires a strategic leader who can ensure project success from inception through completion, utilizing best practices in project management, communication, and construction methodologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage all aspects of assigned construction projects, serving as the main point of contact for clients and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
- Provide effective project leadership and demonstrate supervisory skills to guide project teams.
- Maintain project document control, ensuring all project-related documents are accurate, current, and organized according to company standards.
- Prepare and manage cost proposals and change orders, ensuring financial aspects of the project are tracked and reported appropriately.
- Develop project budgets, oversee buy-out and contracting processes, and ensure all financial metrics are monitored for accuracy and accountability.
- Execute project accounting functions, including preparing owner billings and reviewing or approving subcontractor progress payments.
- Manage budgets and cost control measures throughout all phases of the project to achieve financial goals.
- Coordinate the submittals, Requests for Information (RFI), and maintain required project documentation for compliance and accuracy.
- Develop and manage Critical Path Method (CPM) schedules to ensure project milestones are met and deliverables are completed on time.
- Supervise project subcontractors, including coordination, procurement of materials and equipment, monitoring budgets, and managing billings.
- Coordinate effectively with project architects, designers, owners, subcontractors, and field personnel to ensure seamless project execution.
Qualifications
- Experience in commercial or public works construction, managing multiple projects or overseeing a single complex project.
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, construction science, or a related field is preferred.
- Strong understanding of current construction methods, building materials, and regulations applicable to the Long Beach, CA area.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage various stakeholders and teams to optimize project efficiency.
- Proficient communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
- Fluency in Microsoft Office Suite and project scheduling software such as MS Project.
- Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record are required for this full-time Construction Project Manager role in Long Beach, CA.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with large-scale school bond construction programs.
- Proficiency with Procore or similar project management software.
- Experience in higher education or healthcare market sectors.
