Construction Project Executive Position Overview
The Construction Project Executive plays a pivotal leadership role in the successful execution and delivery of construction projects. As a Construction Project Executive in Los Angeles, CA, you will provide oversight of day-to-day operations for multiple projects, encompassing construction management, project administration, and implementation of company policies and procedures. This full-time position is responsible for the achievement of established corporate goals and contributes directly to the advancement of the company’s mission and values.
Key Responsibilities
- Enhance client relationships by delivering exceptional service, maintaining effective follow-up, and ensuring the successful completion of projects.
- Promote positive relationships with subcontractors and vendors by fostering professionalism and fairness, and by instilling this approach within the project team.
- Collaborate proactively with Estimating and Purchasing teams during project initiation to ensure profitability, client satisfaction, and the selection of qualified subcontractors.
- Mentor and coach project teams, establish annual performance goals for direct reports, and support the professional growth of team members.
- Identify and pursue new business development opportunities within the construction industry and across other service groups.
- Formulate, negotiate, and communicate contract terms with clients, ensuring all project team members are informed and aligned.
- Clearly define and communicate project strategy to all stakeholders, ensuring implementation and compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Oversee multiple projects and job teams through all phases, including pre-construction, construction, closeout, and post-construction services.
- Identify potential risks to clients’ ongoing operations and develop strategies to mitigate these risks effectively.
- Review and approve monthly project status reports, estimates, and schedules for assigned negotiated projects and hard bid jobs.
- Supervise subcontract bidding, negotiations, and approval of subcontracts and major material purchase orders, while adhering to defined protocols.
- Ensure proper scheduling and cost control throughout the life cycle of each project, maintaining alignment with company protocols.
- Lead project mobilization and job setup, ensuring staff are adequately resourced and equipped for project demands.
- Recruit, train, and supervise personnel, fostering a culture of teamwork and continuous improvement.
- Monitor and maintain positive cash flow, timely progress payments, and accurate management reporting.
- Assist clients in contract negotiations and drafting, working collaboratively with legal counsel where appropriate.
- Attend and actively participate in meetings with clients, architects, and construction partners, ensuring alignment and effective communication throughout the project.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, construction science, or a related field.
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience in supervising or assisting with construction projects of increasing complexity.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate complex activities and lead diverse groups to achieve project goals efficiently, particularly under pressure.
Physical Demands
Candidates must be capable of traversing construction sites, climbing ladders, and conducting detailed visual inspections of work and materials. Regular jobsite walks are required to ensure project success and safety compliance.
