Construction Project Executive
The Construction Project Executive is a senior leadership position responsible for overseeing the complete lifecycle of commercial construction projects, ensuring that each phase—from pre-construction through post-construction—is executed with the highest standards of quality and client satisfaction. This full-time role, based in Orange County, CA, is integral to maintaining operational excellence, fostering positive business relationships, and driving organizational success in the competitive construction industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day leadership and oversight of all construction, project management, and administrative activities for assigned projects.
- Support the development and implementation of company policies, procedures, and standards to meet established corporate goals and uphold the company mission.
- Enhance client relationships through exceptional service, clear communication, and successful project delivery.
- Promote and maintain positive relationships with subcontractors and vendors, ensuring professional, fair, and ethical interactions at all times.
- Collaborate closely with Estimating and Purchasing teams during project initiation to ensure optimal profitability and client satisfaction.
- Mentor, coach, and set annual performance goals for project team members, fostering professional growth and skill development.
- Identify, pursue, and help secure new business development opportunities within the commercial construction sector and related service lines.
- Develop, review, and communicate contract terms to the project team; assist clients in contract negotiation and drafting, ensuring legal and client requirements are met.
- Ensure project strategy is clearly defined, communicated, and implemented among all stakeholders and team members.
- Guide and supervise multiple project teams through all phases of construction, from pre-construction planning to final closeout and post-construction support.
- Identify potential risks to ongoing client operations and develop proactive plans to minimize and mitigate these risks.
- Review and approve monthly project status reports, estimates, and schedules to ensure projects remain on track and within budget.
- Oversee subcontract bidding, negotiations, and approval of subcontracts and major material purchase orders, in compliance with company protocols.
- Lead project mobilization and job setup, ensuring proper staffing and adequate resources are available for successful project execution.
- Recruit, train, and supervise project personnel, ensuring a high-performing and cohesive team environment.
- Maintain positive cash flow throughout projects and ensure timely, accurate reporting of project financials and progress.
- Participate in client, architect, and contractor meetings as a representative of the company to advocate for successful project outcomes.
- Conduct regular jobsite walks to assess progress, identify and eliminate safety hazards, and ensure adherence to quality standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, construction science, or a related field.
- At least 10 years of progressive experience in commercial construction project management or supervision, with a proven track record of handling increasingly complex projects.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple teams and stakeholders while maintaining focus on project objectives, efficiency, and quality.
- Strong leadership, mentoring, and team development skills.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and client relationship management abilities.
