Responsibilities
- Direct, coordinate, and exercise functional authority for the planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of engineering projects within your assigned responsibility area.
- Plan and formulate engineering programs and organize project staff according to project requirements.
- Assign project personnel to specific phases or aspects of the project, including technical studies, product design, preparation of specifications, technical plans, and product testing, in accordance with staff engineering disciplines.
- Review product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements, and related specifications.
- Coordinate activities concerning technical developments, scheduling, and the resolution of engineering design and test problems.
- Direct the integration of technical activities and products.
- Evaluate and approve design changes, specifications, and drawing releases.
- Control expenditures within the limitations of the project budget.
- Prepare interim and completion project reports as required.
- Assist the Superintendent with analyzing and resolving field construction issues.
- Solicit and qualify subcontractor proposals to ensure compliance with contract documents.
- Prepare, review, and distribute Requests for Information (RFIs) and maintain logs.
- Evaluate submittals and shop drawings to ensure compliance with contract documents.
- Develop and maintain project schedules in collaboration with the Superintendent and Project Manager.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of contract documents and specifications.
- Assist the Project Manager with project budgets and change orders.
- Manage project closeout and obtain all warranties required for final acceptance.
- Maintain effective and professional relationships with owners, architects, engineers, and contractors.
- Develop project objectives by reviewing proposals and plans and conferring with management.
- Determine project responsibilities by identifying project phases and elements, assigning personnel, and reviewing bids from contractors.
- Determine project specifications by studying product design, customer requirements, and performance standards, completing technical studies, and preparing cost estimates.
- Confirm product performance by designing and conducting tests.
- Establish project schedules by studying project plans and specifications, calculating time requirements, and sequencing project elements.
- Maintain project schedules by monitoring progress, coordinating activities, and resolving problems.
- Control project plans by reviewing design, specifications, and plan and schedule changes, recommending actions as needed.
- Control project costs by approving expenditures and administering contractor contracts.
- Prepare project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends, recommending actions as needed.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by enforcing procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Maintain project databases by writing computer programs and entering and backing up data.
- Maintain product and company reputation by complying with federal and state regulations.
- Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related results as necessary.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or an equivalent field is required.
- Strong computer skills and proficiency with Procore, Microsoft Office Suite, and Microsoft Project.
- Experience with BIM, Revit, or LEED Accreditation is considered an asset.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining teamwork and a positive attitude.
- Three to four years of experience in a similar construction project engineering role is required.
- Two to four years of experience in the construction industry is required.
