We are seeking a dedicated Construction Project Accountant to join a prominent commercial construction general contracting team in Seattle, WA. The Construction Project Accountant will play a vital role within the operational accounting team, collaborating closely with project analysts and project management staff to ensure financial accuracy and compliance across a variety of commercial construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Review subcontractor applications, lien releases, and supplier affidavits for accuracy and adherence to billing requirements.
- Communicate with subcontractors regarding missing or non-compliant documentation and billing items.
- Work collaboratively with project managers and subcontractors to facilitate timely and accurate payment processing from initiation to completion.
- Process subcontract payments, ensuring all billing requirements and contractual obligations are met in accordance with company policy.
- Maintain and update subcontract documentation, utilizing electronic filing systems to ensure transparency and accessibility.
- Verify prevailing wage requirements for subcontractors as applicable to specific projects.
- Review subcontract agreements and change orders for accuracy and update the accounting system as needed.
- Process job cost transfers related to materials, equipment, and other project expenses.
- Compile invoices and supporting documentation for monthly owner reviews and project substantiation.
- Perform a range of general accounting and administrative duties as assigned to support project success.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Team-oriented mindset and experience working within a shared inbox environment.
- Minimum of 1 year of accounting administrative experience, preferably within the construction industry.
- At least 1 year of accounts payable experience in a construction setting.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities to effectively liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel with at least 1 year of relevant experience.
- Capability to work independently, exercise initiative, set priorities, and drive projects to completion.
- Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and time management.
- Demonstrated commitment to providing excellent customer service to both project teams and external partners.
- Experience with GCPay online billing platform or CMIC accounting software is a plus, though not required.
