In this full-time Construction Project Accountant role, you will be responsible for managing daily accounting tasks associated with multiple construction projects. Your primary focus will be on processing subcontract payables, ensuring all payments are aligned with contractual and company requirements. Construction Project Accountant - Summary
- Manage daily accounting operations for various commercial construction projects.
- Process and review subcontractor payables, invoices, and related documentation.
- Collaborate with project analysts and teams to ensure compliance and accuracy in all financial transactions.
- Support operational accounting functions and contribute to overall project success.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Review subcontractor applications, lien releases, and supplier affidavits for accuracy and compliance with billing requirements.
- Notify subcontractors of any missing or non-compliant billing documents.
- Maintain ongoing communication with project managers and subcontractors throughout the payment process.
- Process subcontractor payments, ensuring all required documents and conditions are met.
- Utilize and maintain electronic filing systems for all subcontract documents.
- Verify prevailing wage requirements for subcontractors when applicable.
- Review subcontract agreements and change orders for accuracy; update accounting systems as needed.
- Process job cost transfers for materials, equipment, and other project-related expenses.
- Compile invoices and supporting documentation for monthly owner substantiation requirements.
- Perform general accounting and administrative tasks as assigned.
- Assist with other duties as needed to support the accounting and project management teams.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year of accounting administrative experience, preferably in the construction industry.
- At least 1 year of accounts payable experience within a construction environment.
- Proficient written and verbal communication skills to interact with various stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience working with Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to work independently, demonstrate initiative, set priorities, and ensure project completion.
- Keen attention to detail, strong time management, and organizational skills are essential.
- Commitment to providing excellent customer service.
- Familiarity with GCPay online billing platform and CMIC accounting software is a plus.
- Ability to function effectively within a team-oriented, shared inbox accounting environment.
