Located in San Diego, CA, this role is essential for ensuring all phases of project estimation and management are performed with precision and efficiency. Working for a well-established general contractor and framing contractor, the Construction Estimator and Project Manager will collaborate with skilled professionals, including architects and engineers, to deliver successful building projects that meet and exceed industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage all aspects of the project lifecycle, from initial estimation through to final completion, ensuring projects are delivered on schedule and within budget.
- Coordinate closely with general contractors, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to maintain clear communication and resolve project challenges effectively.
- Prepare accurate and competitive bids for a variety of construction projects, including both single-family residences and large-scale multifamily or commercial developments.
- Perform detailed takeoffs for lumber, hardware, and other materials, ensuring precise quantification for efficient procurement and project execution.
- Create phased material lists and cut sheets, including stud heights and cut lists, to support construction field teams and maintain project accuracy.
- Utilize advanced construction management software such as Procore, Bluebeam, or PlanGrid to streamline documentation, scheduling, and project tracking.
- Interpret construction plans, specifications, and contracts to guide project planning and execution while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Lead subcontractor management and scheduling, fostering strong relationships and clear expectations to drive high-quality work.
- Apply broad knowledge of construction trades, with an emphasis on electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems, to coordinate interdisciplinary project elements.
- Work independently in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, proactively addressing challenges and finding innovative solutions.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction management, project coordination, and framing estimation for commercial and multi-family projects.
- Demonstrated proficiency with construction software, such as Procore, Bluebeam, or PlanGrid.
- Exceptional organizational, communication, and negotiation skills, enabling effective project leadership and stakeholder engagement.
- Ability to read and interpret detailed construction documents, plans, specifications, and contracts.
- Proven ability to conduct takeoffs, prepare comprehensive material lists, and coordinate supply chain needs.
- Experience in subcontractor management and project scheduling, ensuring all tasks are executed to the highest standards.
- Comprehensive knowledge of construction trades, particularly in framing, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing disciplines.
- Capacity to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
- OSHA 30 certification is preferred, contributing to a safe and compliant workplace.
- CAD skills and the ability to develop shop drawings are preferred and will enhance project efficiency.
