Construction Estimator Job OverviewWe are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Construction Estimator to join our team on a full-time basis in Escondido, CA. As a Construction Estimator, you will play a vital role in the commercial construction sector, providing accurate cost estimates and supporting project success from the initial bid through to project completion. Key Responsibilities- Analyze and compile estimate data that impact labor, materials, equipment requirements, and other factors to ensure the delivery of high-quality and timely estimates for commercial construction projects in Escondido, CA.
- Review project drawings, specifications, and proposed site conditions, incorporating findings and input from field operations into final estimates.
- Evaluate alternative construction solutions and methods to enhance bid competitiveness and project efficiency.
- Review take-off quantities and ensure the accuracy of all data used in cost estimates.
- Utilize historical cost data as a benchmark to validate current estimates.
- Apply advanced mathematical calculations to ensure logical and accurate cost projections.
- Present estimates and participate in bid reviews with senior project management to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Communicate effectively with owners, subcontractors, and public/private entities to maintain project competitiveness and collaboration.
- Relay bid information to field operations at pre-construction meetings to ensure a clear understanding of project scope and critical construction methods.
- Develop and nurture business relationships to expand bid opportunities in the regional commercial construction market within Escondido, CA.
- Mentor junior estimating staff, supporting their development and upholding departmental standards.
- Participate in and/or lead design-build preconstruction services, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, competitive estimates and project schedules.
- Lead discussions on construction means and methods, fostering innovation and creative problem-solving for successful estimates.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience estimating commercial construction and/or public works projects of increasing complexity.
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related industry field preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of current construction methods, materials, and relevant regulations.
- Proven ability to work effectively under pressure and coordinate multiple activities and teams.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills are essential.
- Excellent computer proficiency, particularly with industry-standard estimating software and tools.
- Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving history required.
