The Construction Estimator plays a critical role in the successful planning, budgeting, and execution of commercial construction projects. As an integral member of the preconstruction team, the Construction Estimator is responsible for providing accurate and comprehensive cost estimates to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Construction Estimator - Summary
- Responsible for cost estimation, budgeting, and value engineering for commercial construction projects
- Engages with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and internal teams to foster strong working relationships
- Leads the preconstruction phase, ensuring all estimates, schedules, and documents meet quality and detail standards
- Mentors and develops junior estimators, sharing expertise in preconstruction processes
- Represents the company in RFPs, interviews, and client presentations
Duties & Responsibilities
- Professionally represent the company and support strategic initiatives
- Establish and maintain productive relationships with internal customers and external business partners
- Execute company policies and procedures while embracing a lean work environment
- Cultivate both new and existing client relationships, participate in client pursuits, RFPs, and interviews
- Assume overall responsibility for the preconstruction stage of complex projects
- Identify and accomplish contract requirements, deliverables, and project milestones
- Ensure all estimates, constructability reviews, schedules, and value engineering efforts meet required standards
- Oversee and schedule the complete preconstruction effort, including managing bid milestones and identifying long-lead items
- Coordinate with owners, architects/engineers, and subcontractors to resolve technical issues and provide feasibility analysis
- Organize departmental teams, assign estimator responsibilities, and manage deadlines
- Mentor and train junior estimators in all aspects of the preconstruction process
- Prepare estimates for all design stages, including conceptual, design/build, GMP, and hard bid projects
- Develop and write bid packages and subcontractor scopes of work
- Participate in subcontract award process and prepare subcontracts for construction teams
- Demonstrate exceptional presentation and sales skills in RFP and interview settings
- Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies regarding job site safety and substance use
- Maintain predictable and regular in-person attendance at assigned location
- Other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
- Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in Construction Management or as a General Contractor
- Strong, verifiable references demonstrating leadership and communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and estimating software
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications
- Knowledge of commercial construction costs, budgeting, vendor selection, and client proposal preparation
- Understanding of owner/architect/general contractor industry standards
- Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and planning skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
- Successful completion of post-offer background and drug screens
