You will also utilize estimating software—such as Sheer97, with training provided—to input data, analyze costs, and generate formal proposals that meet client expectations and deadlines.
The Construction Estimator role is essential in coordinating awarded projects with production and logistics teams, ensuring that materials are prepared and delivered according to project schedules. Maintaining organized documentation is a key part of this position, as you will manage records for bids, change orders, and awarded projects, supporting transparent communication and accountability across all project phases. You will also be responsible for conducting internal quality checks, verifying the accuracy of all calculations and estimates before submission, and supporting cost tracking and project progress updates as needed.
Success in this Construction Estimator position requires a solid understanding of construction blueprints and specifications, as well as strong mathematical and geometry skills to calculate bar lengths, shapes, bends, and overall quantities. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general computer skills are essential, as is the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Experience in rebar, concrete, or structural steel estimating, along with familiarity with takeoff or estimating software, will enable you to excel in this role.

Construction Estimator - Summary- Interpretation of construction drawings and blueprints for accurate material and cost estimation
- Preparation of detailed cost estimates and formal proposals
- Coordination with production, logistics, and project management teams
- Maintenance of organized documentation for bids and projects
- Ensuring accuracy and efficiency throughout the preconstruction process
- Review and interpret structural, architectural, and civil drawings, including plan, section, and elevation views
- Perform rebar quantity takeoffs to calculate bar lengths, shapes, bends, and quantities required
- Input data and pricing into estimating software (Sheer97; training provided)
- Prepare formal proposals and bid packages by required deadlines
- Conduct internal quality checks to confirm accuracy before submission
- Coordinate awarded jobs with production and logistics to ensure material preparation and delivery
- Maintain organized documentation for bids, change orders, and awarded projects
- Communicate with project managers and fabrication teams to clarify specifications and ensure departmental alignment
- Support cost tracking and job progress updates as needed
- Complete 2–3 detailed estimates per day, depending on project complexity
- Double-check takeoffs, finalize proposals, and submit quotes to the bid coordinator
- Assist production in verifying quantities and scheduling deliveries once projects are approved
