Conformal Coating Technician Job OverviewThe Conformal Coating Technician plays an essential role in the electronic manufacturing process by applying protective coatings to Circuit Card Assemblies (CCAs) to meet customer specifications and ensure product reliability. This full-time position involves a hands-on approach, working with advanced coating processes such as Parylene, and requires strict adherence to quality and safety standards. The Conformal Coating Technician will collaborate with a production team and support various manufacturing phases to deliver high-quality electronic products.
Key Responsibilities- Apply conformal coatings and/or ruggedize CCAs according to customer specifications and established procedures.
- Operate a variety of dispensing and coating machines, including set up and break down of Parylene chambers and related equipment as directed by process engineering requirements.
- Perform masking and taping of circuit boards to ensure designated areas remain free of coating or potting, maintaining precise boundaries throughout the process.
- Inspect assemblies to confirm adequate and accurate coating coverage, performing manual touch-up work as needed to achieve consistent quality standards.
- Maintain coating and dispensing machines, which includes regular cleaning, changing fluids, and recording maintenance activities for machine upkeep.
- Transport racks of circuit boards between different manufacturing stations to facilitate workflow and ensure timely completion of production cycles.
- Adhere to general housekeeping duties, promoting a safe and clean work environment at all times.
- Follow training protocols and complete all necessary training courses related to conformal coating processes and equipment operation.
- Adapt to changing production requirements and perform additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor to support team objectives.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Ability and willingness to participate in training and to train others in conformal coating, Parylene processes, and ruggedization techniques as needed.
- Physical capability to lift various weights, with functional mobility including sitting and standing for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity to perform intricate coating and masking tasks.
- Demonstrated ability to work safely and independently, maintaining productivity without constant supervision.
- Patience and steady hand coordination are considered assets in this role.
