Commercial Insurance Underwriter Job OverviewARC Group is seeking a skilled Commercial Insurance Underwriter to join our client’s established insurance team. This is a remote, full-time position with an emphasis on evaluating commercial auto insurance applications. While preference is given to candidates located in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, applicants from surrounding Gulf and eastern seaboard states are also encouraged to apply. As a Commercial Insurance Underwriter, you will play a vital role in assessing risk, ensuring compliance with underwriting guidelines, and supporting the growth and stability of the insurance portfolio.
Responsibilities- Thoroughly review and analyze new business submissions for eligibility and adherence to established underwriting guidelines.
- Evaluate applications to determine risk acceptability, identifying cases requiring additional information or clarification.
- Prepare accurate quotes for prospective insured clients, maintaining ongoing communication with agents and clients throughout the process until policies are bound or declined.
- Price and rate new submissions following company guidelines, collaborating with the Underwriting Operations Manager when appropriate.
- Recommend acceptance or declination of risks based on careful analysis and consultation with management for joint review as needed.
- Build and maintain strong professional relationships with insureds and agents, providing high-quality customer service at every stage of the process.
- Contribute to company production goals by efficiently and accurately processing submissions and renewals.
- Monitor and support Underwriting Assistants in endorsement requests, bind request review, and related tasks requiring expert input.
- Facilitate the work of Renewal Underwriters, including renewal evaluations, revision processing, and accuracy checks on bind requests.
- Assist with various administrative tasks to support the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the underwriting department.
- 3-5 years of experience in commercial insurance underwriting, preferably with a focus on commercial lines or auto insurance.
- Outstanding customer service, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational abilities.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required.
