COBOL Developer - Summary
- Responsible for the development, optimization, and maintenance of mainframe COBOL applications supporting government agency systems.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain COBOL programs for mainframe-based solutions within government projects.
- Write and optimize CICS transactions to support online processing and system integration.
- Develop, modify, and maintain DB2 queries and stored procedures for efficient data management.
- Create and manage JCL scripts to support batch processing and workflow automation.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve production issues to minimize downtime and improve system reliability.
- Collaborate with business analysts, project managers, and other IT professionals to ensure solutions meet business requirements.
- Adhere to software development life cycle (SDLC) methodologies for analysis, design, coding, testing, and deployment.
- Document processes and maintain technical documentation for all mainframe applications and workflows.

Qualifications & Requirements
- 8+ years of advanced experience in COBOL programming, debugging, and performance optimization.
- Proficiency in developing and maintaining applications using CICS for online transaction processing.
- Advanced skills in DB2 database development, including query optimization and stored procedure creation.
- Demonstrated expertise in JCL for batch processing and automation tasks.
- Comprehensive understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
