CNC Machinist - Summary
As a CNC Machinist, you will be responsible for setting up and operating CNC lathe machines to perform precise machining operations on a variety of raw materials, including those used in the production of aerospace components. Your role will involve running one or more machines on a regular basis, conducting thorough inspections, and ensuring that all finished parts conform to strict dimensional and quality specifications. Your expertise in reading technical documents, interpreting blueprints, and utilizing precision measurement tools will be integral to your success in this role.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Set up CNC lathes and execute machining operations on raw materials, with a focus on aerospace bushings and related components.
- Operate one or more CNC machines efficiently and safely, following all established procedures and safety guidelines.
- Ensure all machined parts meet precise dimensional tolerances and quality standards as outlined in shop planning documents.
- Perform comprehensive visual and dimensional inspections of machined parts to identify and correct defects within specified limits.
- Carry out clean-up operations, including deburring and edge breaking, to ensure parts meet final specifications.
- Maintain accurate records of machine operations, inspections, and any adjustments made during the machining process.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to troubleshoot and resolve machining or quality issues as they arise.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Ability to read, write, and understand English to interpret technical documents and safety instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in all aspects of machining and inspection.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, shop travelers, sketches, and technical documentation.
- Experience with OHM/CMMs (Coordinate Measuring Machines) and using a variety of precision inspection tools, including micrometers, dial bore gages, telescoping gages, height gages, and indicators.
- General knowledge of machine set-up, loading, and adjustments for CNC and related machining equipment.
- Ability to identify different plated surfaces, such as chrome plate, nickel plate, and various thermal sprayed surfaces.
- Practical experience with repair station procedures, practices, inspection methods, and materials relevant to CNC machining.
