CNC Machine Shop Manager - Summary

Duties & Responsibilities
- Supervise and manage shop leads, CNC programmers, setup personnel, and operators
- Develop, coordinate, and maintain production schedules based on shop capacity and workload
- Oversee CNC programming activities using ESPRIT and/or Mastercam, including code development, testing, and revision control
- Review blueprints, solid models, and RFQs to develop efficient manufacturing processes
- Troubleshoot and resolve machining, tooling, setup, and programming issues to maintain production flow
- Optimize tooling selection, presetting, and process optimization to maximize machine utilization
- Ensure quality standards through adherence to procedures, in-process inspections, and final inspections
- Enforce safety regulations and lean manufacturing practices throughout the machine shop
- Monitor and manage production using ERP systems, track labor, manage work orders, and report performance metrics
- Control department budgets, expenses, preventive maintenance, and equipment repairs
- Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to address technical challenges
- Participate in ongoing technical training to stay updated on the latest CNC programming and manufacturing trends
- Drive continuous improvement projects and support recurring job optimization efforts

Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from an accredited four-year institution
- Minimum 5 years of experience managing a machine shop with a proven track record of team leadership
- At least 5 years of CNC programming experience using ESPRIT and/or Mastercam
- Experience programming Fanuc and Universal robots
- Strong command of English, both written and spoken; proficiency in Spanish preferred
- Proficient in reading and interpreting technical documents, blueprints, and engineering drawings
- Advanced mathematical skills, including probability, statistics, geometry, and trigonometry
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access) and ERP systems
- Experience with quality and process improvement tools such as Root Cause Analysis, FMEA, PPAP, APQP, SPC, and Kaizen
- CQA/CQE certification preferred
- Strong understanding of HAAS, OKUMA, DG MORI, and Star machines
- Familiarity with GD&T and manufacturing processes
- Experience with First Article Inspection (FAI) and supplier audits
- Ability to travel to supplier sites as needed
