The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) plays a pivotal role in providing strategic financial leadership and effective operational oversight for healthcare organizations. As CFO, you are responsible for safeguarding the fiscal integrity and ensuring the long-term sustainability of the entity by managing a wide array of financial and administrative functions. This executive-level position requires a deep understanding of financial planning, regulatory compliance, and revenue cycle operations within healthcare, particularly in nonprofit and Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) settings. The CFO works closely with senior leadership, including direct reporting to the CEO, and serves as a key advisor in organizational strategy, board relations, and cross-departmental initiatives.
In this full-time executive position, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) champions the organization's mission to expand access to high-quality, compassionate healthcare, particularly serving rural and underserved communities. The CFO leads the development and implementation of comprehensive financial strategies that align with the organization's vision and values. By fostering effective financial stewardship, the CFO ensures the organization's ability to deliver essential healthcare services and meet the needs of patients and stakeholders.
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) oversees all aspects of financial planning, reporting, and budgeting. Responsibilities include developing and monitoring annual budgets, preparing financial statements, and ensuring robust internal controls. The CFO also manages revenue cycle operations, supervises information systems related to finance, and maintains compliance with federal, state, and grantor regulations. This includes expertise in cost reporting, PPS (Prospective Payment System), HRSA (Health Resources and Services Administration) reporting, and Medi-Cal/Medicare compliance. In addition, the CFO leads audit processes, coordinates grant compliance, and provides guidance on managed care financial management.
The CFO is a leader of multidisciplinary teams, inspiring collaboration and high performance across finance, billing, information technology, and other support functions. The position requires proven experience managing complex budgets, conducting audits, and working with advanced accounting software such as MIP, as well as the Microsoft Office Suite. The CFO is also expected to develop and maintain strong relationships with the board of directors and external partners, representing the organization’s financial interests with professionalism and integrity.
