The Chief Engineer will be responsible for the organization, supervision, and execution of programs designed to ensure the optimal functioning of all buildings, grounds, and equipment. Chief Engineer - Summary
- Lead and direct all aspects of facility maintenance, including buildings, grounds, and equipment management.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth and efficient plant operations.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
- Provide leadership and guidance to engineering teams, supporting their professional growth and training.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversee the safety and functionality of all operating equipment within the facility.
- Develop, supervise, and train staff on plant operations and emergency procedures.
- Procure repair parts for both routine and emergency maintenance needs.
- Establish and maintain productive relationships with vendors and external partners.
- Create and manage a comprehensive preventative maintenance schedule for all building systems, process equipment, and utilities.
- Monitor and control departmental budgets, focusing on efficient use of parts, supplies, and labor.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable wastewater and emissions regulations and standards.
- Supervise outside contractors responsible for equipment repair and facility upkeep.
- Participate in plant startups and special projects, including off-site assignments as needed.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent military experience preferred.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to deliver effective presentations.
- Excellent multi-tasking abilities and the capacity to establish priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated initiative, responsibility, flexibility, and leadership skills.
- Proficiency in reading electrical schematics, mechanical, and plumbing blueprints.
- Experienced with Windows-based office software, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Comprehensive knowledge of plant maintenance, including electrical systems, boilers, hydraulics, compressed air, and mechanical equipment.

- Military background with relevant transferable skills, such as Navy or Coast Guard engineering specialties, is highly valued.
- Hands-on expertise in managing heavy-duty machinery, boilers, chillers, hydraulics, and pneumatic pumps.
- Strong vendor management and negotiation skills.
- Ability to respond quickly and effectively to emergency situations and special projects.
- Proactive problem-solver who can drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.
