The Chief Engineer plays a pivotal role in managing and directing the maintenance, repair, and overall efficient operation of buildings, facilities, and critical equipment. This position is responsible for leading programs to ensure optimal facility conditions and compliance with all regulatory standards. The Chief Engineer will coordinate with various departments, including engineering, transportation, and security, to maintain a safe, clean, and highly functional environment. As a key member of the management team, the Chief Engineer will provide strategic leadership, oversee departmental budgets, and support the achievement of organizational goals through proactive resource allocation and delegation.
In this integral role, the Chief Engineer is tasked with implementing and maintaining comprehensive preventative maintenance schedules for all building systems, process equipment, and plant utilities. The successful candidate will supervise the safety and operational readiness of all equipment within the facility, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and environmental standards related to wastewater and emissions. The Chief Engineer will also manage relationships with vendors and contractors, procure repair parts, and oversee major repair and special projects, including plant startups and off-site assignments.
Leadership and team development are core responsibilities, with a particular emphasis on training staff in plant operations and emergency procedures. The Chief Engineer will maintain clear and effective communication with other members of the management team, internal committees, and the broader staff community. Proficiency in using modern Windows-based office software is essential, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. A comprehensive understanding of plant maintenance—including electrical systems, boilers, hydraulics, compressed air, and mechanical equipment—is required for success in this position.

Qualifications & Requirements
