Chief Engineer - Summary
- Responsible for planning, organizing, and directing maintenance programs for buildings, grounds, and equipment.
- Leads the engineering team and coordinates with other departments to ensure optimal facility operations.
- Oversees budgets, procurement, and vendor relationships to maintain cost efficiency and operational reliability.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Supervise the safety and functionality of all operational equipment within the facility.
- Develop and implement training programs in plant operations and emergency procedures for all engineering staff.
- Manage procurement of repair parts for both preventative and emergency repairs.
- Establish and maintain relationships with vendors and service providers.
- Develop and execute a preventive maintenance schedule for all building systems, process equipment, and utilities.
- Monitor departmental budgets, with an emphasis on parts, supplies, and labor costs.
- Ensure compliance with wastewater and emissions regulatory standards.
- Oversee the work of outside contractors on repair and maintenance projects.
- Participate in off-site plant startups and special engineering projects as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent military experience preferred.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, mechanical, and plumbing blueprints.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective presentations and team leadership.
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task, establish priorities, and maintain flexibility in a dynamic environment.
- Experience with Windows-based office software, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Solid knowledge of plant maintenance, including electrical systems, boilers, hydraulics, compressed air, and mechanical equipment.
