Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) - Summary
- Provide direct support to surgical teams before, during, and after procedures.
- Ensure sterile techniques and maintain a safe, clean environment throughout all surgical processes.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform the full spectrum of sterile techniques, including setting up surgical trays, preparing and draping patients for surgery, and assisting with post-operative dressings.
- Clean and pack surgical packs for sterilization after each procedure, ensuring that all surgical supplies are properly restocked.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients by actively participating in the cleaning of clinical spaces, operating rooms, and medical equipment, or by guiding other personnel in environmental maintenance.
- Assist surgeons with preoperative processes, including escorting patients to exam rooms, processing intake forms, and recording vital signs.
- Set up, assist, and break down rooms for minor procedures, transport dirty surgical instruments to the Sterile Processing Department (SPD), deliver specimens to the lab, conduct daily room checks, and ensure necessary pharmacy supplies such as lidocaine are available.
- Monitor and maintain surgical supply levels, organize and clean storage areas, and regularly check expiration dates to ensure readiness for all procedures.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Successful completion of a Surgical Technology program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES), or a formal military training program for surgical technicians.
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA), or as a Tech-in-Surgery (TS-C) from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT); or possess a Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) certification as a surgical technician or operating room technician.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Minimum of one year of experience as a Surgical Technician or Operating Room Technician post-graduation.
