The Certified School Nurse (CSN) plays a vital leadership role in ensuring the health and well-being of students across multiple school facilities. As a CSN, you will be responsible for providing clinical leadership and direct nursing care while supervising a team of Registered Nurses. Certified School Nurse (CSN) - Summary
- Lead and coordinate comprehensive school health services across several school buildings.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversee nursing services and ensure high-quality healthcare delivery across multiple school buildings.
- Supervise, mentor, and support Registered Nurses, fostering a culture of excellence in student health services.
- Serve as the primary nurse for one school, providing direct care to students and staff.
- Develop and manage Individualized Healthcare Plans (IHPs), Emergency Action Plans (EAPs), and health accommodations for students.
- Administer medications and medical treatments according to Illinois state law and district policy.
- Respond promptly to medical emergencies and coordinate follow-up care as needed.
- Collaborate with school administrators, educators, counselors, psychologists, special education staff, and related service providers.
- Monitor communicable diseases and implement infection prevention strategies throughout the school community.
- Maintain thorough and accurate health records, ensuring compliance with the Illinois Department of Public Health and Illinois State Board of Education requirements.
- Provide health-related training to school staff, including emergency procedures and medication administration.
- Communicate effectively with families, physicians, and community healthcare professionals to address student health needs.
- Participate in special education meetings such as IEP and Section 504 team discussions.
- Promote wellness initiatives and support a healthy school environment for students and staff in Downers Grove, Illinois.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Current Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
- Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with School Nurse Endorsement (Certified School Nurse - CSN) required.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Prior experience in school nursing strongly preferred.
- Experience in a supervisory or leadership role preferred.
- Current certification in CPR/BLS.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team setting.
- Strong organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
