Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) - Summary
- Deliver occupational therapy interventions under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist.
- Support residents in achieving their highest level of independence in activities of daily living.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with professional standards and facility protocols.
- Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive resident care.
- Promote a positive, caring, and supportive environment for residents, their families, and fellow staff members.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and continuing education opportunities as offered.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Implement treatment plans developed by the supervising Occupational Therapist, utilizing evidence-based practices appropriate for the skilled nursing facility (SNF) and long-term care settings.
- Assist residents in regaining skills necessary for daily living, including self-care, mobility, and communication.
- Monitor and document resident progress, making adjustments to therapeutic activities as needed to support optimal outcomes.
- Educate residents and their families on strategies to maximize independence and safety at home or within the facility.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, as well as facility policies and procedures.
- Utilize electronic health record systems, such as Net Health and Point Click Care, for accurate record-keeping and care planning.
- Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and contribute to resident care planning and discharge processes.
- Foster a warm, supportive, and optimistic environment for both residents and team members.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Current and valid COTA (Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant) license in the state of Florida (FL) – required.
- Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
- Knowledge of PDPM, long-term care programming, and occupational therapy (OT) scope of practice within a skilled nursing facility (SNF) environment.
- Ability to quickly learn and navigate electronic health record systems, including Net Health and Point Click Care.
- Willingness to work collaboratively with other therapists, nurses, and healthcare professionals.
- Excellent organizational and documentation skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Both new graduates and experienced Occupational Therapy Assistants are encouraged to apply.
- Ability to commute to New Port Richey, FL for in-person work – required.
