Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) - Summary
- Provide direct inpatient psychiatric and medical care following military and civil service standards.
- Support nursing care teams in delivering high-quality, compassionate care to service members, veterans, and their families.
- Ensure patient safety, infection control, and compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams for optimal patient outcomes.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Monitor and record patient vital signs, intake and output, height, and weight.
- Assist patients with daily living activities, including bathing, feeding, mobility, and hygiene care.
- Document all patient care activities manually and/or electronically, ensuring timely and accurate record-keeping.
- Assist healthcare providers with medical procedures and examinations.
- Collect and assist in the collection of specimens for laboratory analysis.
- Ensure patient identification and safety measures are always followed.
- Maintain a clean and orderly patient care environment, adhering to infection control protocols.
- Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
- Transport patients to tests, procedures, or appointments as needed.
- Participate in patient care conferences and staff meetings.
- Provide general information to patients and visitors regarding hospital policies and procedures.
- Assist with administrative tasks, such as managing patient records and stocking supplies.
- Participate in the orientation and precepting of newly assigned personnel.
- Perform daily quality control checks on medical equipment and assist with equipment monitoring.
- Respond to emergency situations and report potential or actual safety hazards.
- Perform additional duties as assigned within the CNA skill set.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Completion of a state-approved CNA program, successful completion of state exam, and registration in the Nursing Assistant Registry.
- Current, active, valid, and unrestricted CNA certification or authorizing document from any U.S. state, District of Columbia, territory, or jurisdiction.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or Red Cross.
- Minimum of one year of experience in a relevant specialty within the last two years, under supervision of a Physician, LVN, or RN.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Ability to lift and move weights in accordance with physical requirements.
