Join Decypher as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) and contribute directly to the health and readiness of individuals who serve our country. Since 2008, Decypher has partnered with the Defense Health Agency to deliver professional healthcare services, innovative technology, and management solutions. Our ongoing mission is to support quality care for veterans, servicemembers, and their families nationwide.
As a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), you will play a crucial role in supporting clinical operations and ensuring a smooth and positive patient experience. You will prepare examination rooms, assist with patient flow, collect and document vital signs and medical histories, and perform ordered diagnostic procedures. This full-time position offers a dynamic, collaborative environment where your expertise and commitment to patient care are highly valued. You will interact with a diverse team of healthcare professionals and patients in a fast-paced setting, contributing to the overall effectiveness and efficiency of clinic operations.
Your responsibilities as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) will include preparing examination rooms before each patient visit to ensure a safe and clean environment. You will assist with patient check-ins, admissions, discharges, and transfers as directed by clinical leadership. As part of your daily routine, you will collect vital signs, such as temperature, respiration, pulse, weight, blood pressure, and pulse oximeter readings. Accurately obtaining and documenting patient medical history, drug history, chief complaints, allergies, and vital signs is essential for providing high-quality care and supporting clinical decision-making.
In addition to direct patient care, you will perform diagnostic procedures as ordered by healthcare providers and maintain adequate stock levels and routine maintenance of examination rooms. Completing laboratory and x-ray requisitions according to clinic policies and entering demographic, diagnostic, and departure information into the electronic health record system are important administrative components of this role. Administrative duties, such as answering telephones, transcribing messages, assisting with scheduling appointments, and placing appointment reminder calls, comprise up to 20% of your workload, allowing you to maintain strong communication and organizational skills.
To succeed as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) at Decypher, you must meet specific qualifications. A high school diploma or GED is required, along with graduation from an accredited medical assistant training program (CAAHEP, ABHES, CCBMA, ACCSC, ACICS, ACCET, or ACCJC) or completion of a formal medical services training program from the United States Armed Forces. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory. U.S. citizenship is also required for this role due to the nature of the work and partnership with federal agencies.
