Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - Summary
- Provides essential clinical and administrative support within a multi-specialty healthcare environment
- Works collaboratively with licensed staff to ensure patient care is delivered efficiently and accurately
- Acts as a liaison between patients and healthcare providers, assisting with patient flow and communication

Duties & Responsibilities
- Collects patient data, including height, weight, vital signs, chief complaints, and current medications, for assessment by licensed professionals
- Transports patients throughout the office and assists in preparing them for provider evaluations
- Obtains and documents specimens, positions patients for examinations, lists medications, and assists during exams and procedures
- Maintains and restocks exam rooms, treatment areas, and labs, ensuring a clean and safe environment; sterilizes reusable equipment as needed
- Accurately documents patient information in electronic medical records, including treatment updates, medication refills, test results, and patient concerns
- Assists with laboratory procedures, including collecting urine and blood specimens, labeling samples correctly, and preparing them for the reference lab
- Performs diagnostic tests such as EKGs, audiograms, vision tests, and spirometry for licensed staff analysis
- Supports referral authorizations and pre-authorizations for specialized testing and ancillary services as directed
- Performs clerical and office functions, such as scheduling, data entry, and responding to patient inquiries
- Administers oral and parenteral medications after appropriate training and under direct physician supervision

Qualifications & Requirements
- Graduation from a Medical Assistant Program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES), or completion of comparable military training
- One year of experience in a physician office setting preferred
- Current Medical Assistant Certification from a recognized national association (e.g., American Association of Medical Assistants, American Medical Technologists, National Association of Healthcare Professions, American Registry of Medical Assistants, or National Healthcare Association)
- Applicants may be hired provisionally with confirmation of examination completion and provisional passing score
- Valid American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (AHA BLS-HCP) certification required
- Effective communication skills to interact with patients, families, and healthcare staff
- Proficiency with computers, including electronic medical records and database systems; keyboarding skills required
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
