Cardiovascular Surgery Nurse Practitioner (NP) / Physician Assistant (PA-C) - Summary
- Full-time advanced practice provider role supporting cardiovascular surgery services.
- Work collaboratively with surgeons, physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary specialists to optimize patient outcomes.
- Engage in both inpatient and outpatient care environments, contributing to all phases of the surgical care process.
- Potential to serve as First Assist in surgical procedures, contingent on qualifications and training.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive pre-operative and post-operative assessments in clinical and hospital settings.
- Participate actively in inpatient rounds and provide consultations alongside cardiovascular surgeons.
- Assist in surgical procedures as First Assist, if credentialed and appropriately trained.
- Coordinate patient care plans and facilitate effective communication among multidisciplinary teams, including Radiology, Emergency Medicine, and Laboratory Services.
- Accurately document patient encounters and maintain up-to-date electronic medical records in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Educate patients and their families about treatment plans, surgical procedures, and post-operative care to ensure understanding and adherence.
- Advocate for patient safety, quality care, and the highest standard of clinical practice at all times.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Current and active licensure as a Physician Assistant (PA-C) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN), as required by state regulatory agencies.
- Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) for PAs or national certification in a relevant APRN specialty.
- Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- Experience in cardiovascular or cardiothoracic surgery is preferred, though not mandatory.
- First Assist certification or willingness to obtain is desirable.
- Demonstrated clinical judgment, exceptional communication, and strong organizational skills.
