As a Cardiovascular Perfusionist, you will join a dedicated team of highly skilled professionals. You will be responsible for managing and monitoring life-support systems during a variety of adult cardiac surgeries, ensuring optimal patient care and safety. This role encompasses a balanced workload of approximately 300 cases annually, divided among four perfusionists, allowing for an exceptional work-life balance and sustainable schedule. The Cardiovascular Perfusionist position is ideal for individuals who thrive in a close-knit, team-oriented environment. The team consists of one manager and three staff perfusionists, creating a collaborative and supportive atmosphere where knowledge sharing and continuous improvement are encouraged. The caseload includes a range of adult cardiac cases such as Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG), valve surgeries, dissections, minimally invasive procedures, and Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy (HIPEC). Please note that transplant procedures are not included in the case mix.
In this role, you will also provide expert support for Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO), working in partnership with nursing staff, who serve as the primary ECMO providers. The call schedule is shared equally among the four perfusionists, with approximately 50% call coverage and a relaxed response requirement for those on second call. Local travel is minimal, representing about 25% of the role.
To be eligible for this position, candidates must hold certification with the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion (ABCP) or be board-eligible. A strong commitment to clinical quality, patient safety, and seamless teamwork in the operating room is essential. Candidates are expected to reside within a 30-minute commute of the primary regional facility to facilitate prompt response times and ensure continuity of care.
