The primary responsibilities for the Cardiovascular ICU Nurse Practitioner (NP) / Physician Assistant (PA-C) include providing advanced clinical support to patients with complex cardiovascular conditions. The provider will work either day or night shifts, with schedules consisting of 12 to 13-hour rotations, ensuring comprehensive coverage and continuity of care for patients. Each provider is typically responsible for a caseload of approximately four patients per shift, enabling focused and individualized patient management. Central line placement and other invasive procedures are essential components of this role, making prior competency and experience in these procedures a requirement.
As part of the CVICU team, the Cardiovascular ICU Nurse Practitioner (NP) / Physician Assistant (PA-C) will collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals to assess, diagnose, and implement evidence-based treatment plans. The role demands proficiency in managing patients with advanced cardiac and thoracic conditions, including those requiring transplant support, ventricular assist devices (VADs), and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). - Board Certified Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA-C).
- Demonstrated experience in a Cardiovascular ICU or similar high-acuity critical care setting.
- Proficiency and documented competency in central line placement and other invasive procedures.
- Experience with transplant, ventricular assist devices (VAD), and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) preferred.
- Active and unrestricted licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
- Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal abilities.
- Experienced advanced practice provider with a passion for critical care and cardiovascular medicine.
- Proven ability to function independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced ICU environment.
