Cardiothoracic Surgery Critical Care NP/PA - Summary

Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive ICU rounds, including daily progress notes and discharge planning
- Write orders and prepare detailed discharge summaries for post-operative patients
- Perform procedures such as removal of chest tubes, epicardial pacing wires, and brachial arterial lines
- Potential to perform central and arterial line insertions, contingent upon credentialing and demonstrated competency
- Manage a caseload of 4-6 patients per day, ensuring continuity and quality of care throughout the patient’s hospitalization
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and ancillary staff to coordinate and implement treatment plans
- Utilize EPIC EMR for documentation and communication (EPIC experience preferred)
- Ensure adherence to hospital protocols and best practices in the care of cardiothoracic surgical patients

Qualifications & Requirements
- Active Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) license, with ACNP preferred
- At least 2 years of experience in cardiac or cardiothoracic surgical ICU settings
- Demonstrated proficiency in post-operative management of cardiothoracic patients
- Comfort and competence with procedures such as chest tube removal, epicardial pacing wires, and arterial line insertions
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications required
- Experience with EPIC electronic medical record system preferred
