Call duties will involve responding to requests from the Cath Lab, inpatient units, and emergency departments, including urgent interventions such as CABG or aortic valve replacement (AVR). Additional responsibilities include daily rounding in the intensive care unit, oversight of post-operative patients, and coordination with cardiology and intensive care teams.
The typical patient census is manageable, with approximately 2–5 admitted patients at a time, allowing you to focus on high-quality care and detailed case management. The hospital provides a comprehensive support staff to assist with the full spectrum of perioperative and post-operative needs. A robust electronic medical records (EMR) system, Epic, is utilized, ensuring efficient and accurate documentation.
Applicants must meet rigorous credentialing standards, including board certification in cardiothoracic surgery, an active state medical license, a Controlled Substance Registration (CSR), a valid DEA license, and American Heart Association (AHA) issued Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
