As a Cardiothoracic Surgeon (MD, DO), you will contribute your expertise to a Level 3 Trauma Center, collaborating closely with a supportive team of Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) and Registered Nurses (RNs). Cardiothoracic Surgeon (MD, DO) – Summary
- Board-certified Cardiothoracic Surgeon (MD or DO) opportunity
- Full-time or locum assignment with preference for ongoing, full-time engagement
- Work with an established team at a Level 3 Trauma Center
- Collaborate with experienced APPs and RNs
- EPIC electronic medical record system
- Located in Spokane, Washington – a city known for its balance of outdoor activities and urban amenities
Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform a comprehensive range of cardiothoracic surgical procedures, including:
- Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) – both on-pump and off-pump
- Valve repairs and transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR)
- Aneurysm repairs
- Aortic root remodeling and enlargement (required)
- Aortic valve conservation procedures (required)
- Insertion of central lines, arterial lines, catheters, and intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP)
- Perform extended procedures, including:
- AICD, pacemaker, and ventricular assist device (VAD) implantation
- Lung resections and thoracic surgeries (chest wall, esophageal, diaphragm)
- Bronchoscopy
- Optional but valued experience with minimally invasive mitral procedures and Impella 5.5 implantation/support
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal perioperative care
- Participate in a rotating call schedule, including Monday through Friday and weekend coverage as needed
- Maintain high standards of documentation and patient safety using the EPIC system
- Adhere to established protocols and regulatory requirements

Qualifications & Requirements
- MD or DO degree with valid board certification in Cardiothoracic Surgery
- Active Washington state medical license or eligibility via IMLC (Interstate Medical Licensure Compact)
- Proficiency in a full range of cardiothoracic procedures, including advanced aortic and valve surgeries
- Demonstrated experience in high-volume, high-acuity surgical settings
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of patient care and professional conduct

- Board-certified Cardiothoracic Surgeon with at least several years of post-fellowship experience
- Comfortable performing both routine and complex open-heart and thoracic procedures
- Flexible, adaptable, and willing to take on both scheduled and on-call responsibilities
