As a Cardiothoracic Surgeon – Locum Tenens, you will join a distinguished team of two cardiovascular surgeons, advanced practice providers, and a supportive clinical staff. Assignments are scheduled for several high-need dates throughout the year, ranging from May through October and potentially ongoing, providing flexibility for surgeons seeking temporary assignments. Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform a wide range of cardiothoracic surgical procedures, including but not limited to aortic and structural heart surgeries, in a high-volume hospital setting.
- Provide preoperative and postoperative patient care, collaborating closely with advanced practice providers and support staff.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adhere to all hospital protocols and regulatory requirements.
- Engage in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to the continuous advancement of the institution's cardiovascular program.
- Maintain accurate and timely medical records in accordance with hospital and legal standards.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree required.
- Board certification in Cardiothoracic Surgery (ABTS) required.
- Active state medical license in Virginia (VA) required or eligibility to obtain.
- Extensive experience performing complex cardiothoracic surgeries.
- Advanced fellowship training in aortic surgery or structural heart (preferred).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective teamwork in a hospital setting.
