Cardiothoracic Surgeon (CT Surgery, Adult Cardiac) - Summary
- Provide specialized surgical care for adult cardiac and thoracic conditions.
- Deliver coverage in both clinic and operating room settings, along with 24-hour call responsibilities.
- Participate in patient management across pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative phases.
- Work within a state-of-the-art facility equipped with the Epic EMR system.
- Serve an adult patient demographic (ages 18+).
Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform a full spectrum of adult cardiac and thoracic surgical procedures, including but not limited to aortic surgery (descending aortic aneurysms), coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), redo coronary revascularization, arterial revascularization (using internal mammary, radial, and gastroepiploic arteries), and pericardial window procedures.
- Conduct thoracic endoscopy utilizing both flexible and rigid bronchoscopy techniques, thoracotomy lung resections, pneumonectomy, chest wall resection, reconstruction, and mediastinal surgery.
- Carry out specialized vascular surgical procedures such as heart valve repair and replacement, including mitral valve repair and minimally invasive heart valve interventions (e.g., CoreValveĀ® System).
- Provide clinical evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment planning for patients presenting with thoracic and cardiac pathologies.
- Coordinate care with other specialists, nursing staff, and allied health professionals to ensure optimal patient management throughout the hospital stay and follow-up period.
- Document all patient encounters, procedures, and clinical outcomes accurately using Epic EMR.
- Participate in rounding, post-operative care, and ensure continuity of care during after-hours and weekend call schedules.
- Promote patient safety and adhere to all hospital policies and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
- Completion of an accredited residency program in General Surgery and a fellowship in Cardiothoracic Surgery.
- Board certification or eligibility in Cardiothoracic Surgery.
- Active and unrestricted medical license (or eligibility to obtain) in the relevant state.
- Demonstrated proficiency in adult cardiac and thoracic surgical procedures, including aortic, coronary, endoscopic, and vascular surgery techniques.
- Experience with Epic EMR or comparable electronic documentation systems.
- Strong commitment to patient-centered care, safety, and quality improvement.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.
