The Cardiothoracic Physician Assistant (PA-C) position is structured to offer a balanced mix of surgical and clinical responsibilities. The role is split approximately 50/50 between operating room duties and other essential clinical functions, ensuring a varied and engaging workday. As a surgical first assist, you will be directly involved in complex cardiothoracic procedures, playing a pivotal role in the operating room (OR) and working with advanced technologies such as dedicated heart ORs, DaVinci robotic systems, cath labs, and a hybrid suite. Beyond the operating room, the Cardiothoracic Physician Assistant (PA-C) will conduct inpatient rounding, manage a census of 3-7 patients, and participate in the call schedule alongside the CT surgeons. This hands-on experience provides exposure to a variety of patient care scenarios, including those in the cardiac ICU, progressive step-down inpatient unit, and outpatient cardiac rehabilitation. The cardiothoracic surgery service line has experienced a 13% volume increase from the previous fiscal year, reflecting the program's growth and the increasing demand for specialized surgical care.

- Split time between surgical first assist duties and patient management in various inpatient and outpatient settings.
