Cardiothoracic Physician Assistant (PA-C) - Summary

Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive call coverage, including 24/7 responsibilities as part of a rotating schedule.
- Evaluate and manage patients in the clinic setting, including pre-operative and post-operative assessments.
- Round on inpatients, coordinate care plans, and communicate patient progress to the multidisciplinary team.
- Serve as First Assist in the Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) alongside the Cardiothoracic Surgeon during open-heart and thoracic procedures.
- Demonstrate proficiency in vein harvesting techniques and other first-assist functions as required by the surgical team.
- Maintain meticulous documentation and ensure compliance with clinical protocols and regulatory standards.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Eligibility for state licensure as a Physician Assistant (PA-C) and ability to obtain required credentials.
- Active certification as an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) – Physician Assistant (PA-C) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) with board certification.
- Current certifications in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
- Documented experience in cardiac and thoracic surgery first assisting, including vein harvesting and operating room protocols.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-based environment.
