As a Cardiothoracic Physician Assistant (PA-C), you will work closely with board-certified cardiothoracic and thoracic surgeons, participating in a full continuum of care for patients undergoing cardiac and thoracic surgical procedures. This role is essential in ensuring high-quality patient outcomes, offering a blend of surgical first-assist duties, post-operative care, and clinical support. The position features a weekday schedule with on-call responsibilities, providing work-life balance while maintaining the highest standards of patient care.
The team you will join consists of two cardiothoracic surgeons, one thoracic surgeon, and several physician assistants. Due to our program's rapid growth—an 85% increase in thoracic cases in just six months—we are expanding our staff to meet patient demand and continue our commitment to excellence. Cardiothoracic Physician Assistant (PA-C) - Summary- Work as a key member of a multidisciplinary cardiac and thoracic surgery team.
- Provide first-assist support for a variety of cardiac and thoracic surgical procedures.
- Engage in both hospital-based and clinic-based patient care.
- Participate in daily rounds, pre-operative and post-operative management, and consults.
- Contribute to a rapidly growing program committed to excellence in patient outcomes.
- Assist surgeons with a range of cardiothoracic procedures, including but not limited to CABG, TAVR, TEVAR, AVR, MVR, sternal wire revisions, and additional cardiac surgeries.
- Support thoracic surgical procedures such as VATS, lobectomy, decortication, mediastinoscopy, thymectomy, and biopsy.
- Perform chest tube insertions and thoracentesis independently.
- Conduct consults in emergency and inpatient settings as needed.
- Participate in daily rounds for pre- and post-surgical patients, ensuring optimal patient care throughout their treatment journey.
- Support office clinic operations and provide continuity of care for surgical patients.

- Valid Physician Assistant license (PA-C) with eligibility to practice.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
- Experience in cardiothoracic or thoracic surgery strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency in surgical first-assist techniques for adult cardiac and thoracic cases.
- Ability to perform independent procedures such as chest tube placement and thoracentesis.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
