Cardiothoracic Physician Assistant (PA-C) - Summary- Contract opportunity for a Physician Assistant certified in cardiothoracic surgery
- 26-week assignment with potential for extension
- Based near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
- Start date: April 2025
- Collaborative role across operating room, clinic, and patient care floor
- Assist in a variety of cardiothoracic and vascular surgery procedures, including CABG, TAVR, AAA, AVR, and MVR
- Act as first assist in the operating room, utilizing advanced skills with the Maquet EVH system for endoscopic vein harvesting
- Provide perioperative patient care, including preoperative assessments and postoperative management on the floor and in the clinic
- Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and other clinical staff to optimize patient outcomes
- Participate in call rotation (1:3), including call-back duties as needed
- Ensure documentation and compliance with hospital policies, protocols, and regulatory requirements
- 1099 contractor compensation structure
- Overtime pay at 1.5x standard rate
- Call-back compensation at 1.5x
- On-call compensation provided

- Current and valid Physician Assistant license in Pennsylvania
- Certification as a Physician Assistant (PA-C)
- Extensive experience in cardiothoracic and vascular surgery settings
- Advanced skills in surgical first-assist, particularly with the Maquet EVH system
- Proficiency in assisting with CABG, TAVR, AAA, AVR, and MVR procedures
- Strong clinical judgment and ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Excellent communication and documentation abilities
- Experienced PA-C with a background in high-volume cardiothoracic surgery
