The Cardiothoracic Physician Assistant (PA-C) will be responsible for first assisting in a broad spectrum of cardiac and vascular surgical cases, including procedures in both the operating room and hybrid lab. Your weekly schedule will typically include several operative days, paired with dedicated clinic time for patient consultations and follow-ups. You will collaborate closely with CVT surgeons and a multidisciplinary team, ensuring the highest standards of surgical and perioperative care.
This position includes a combination of inpatient, outpatient, and procedural responsibilities, offering exposure to complex surgical interventions and a wide range of vascular cases. The Cardiothoracic Physician Assistant (PA-C) will also participate in hospital and emergency department consults, inpatient rounding (including ICU and step-down units), and removal of medical devices as required. Your expertise in vessel harvesting, both open and endoscopic, as well as tissue handling and wire skills, will be highly valued in this role.

Cardiothoracic Physician Assistant (PA-C) - Summary- Full-time locum contract position for a Cardiothoracic Physician Assistant (PA-C)
- 6-12 month assignment in a leading healthcare facility
- Work with a team of experienced cardiovascular and thoracic surgeons
- Comprehensive exposure to cardiac and vascular surgery cases
- Opportunity to make a positive impact in a well-resourced clinical setting
- First assist in a wide range of cardiac and vascular surgeries, including EVAR, TVAR, endarterectomy, peripheral artery bypass, and AV fistula creation
- Perform vessel harvesting—open/bridging and endoscopic procedures
- Handle tissue for vascular structures and demonstrate wire skills for openings and closures
- Remove medical devices such as chest tubes, Swan-Ganz catheters, pacemaker wires, drains, and intra-aortic balloon pumps
- Participate in hospital and emergency department consultations
- Conduct inpatient rounding, including ICU and step-down units
- Manage outpatient clinic assignments, delivering pre- and post-operative care
- Provide call coverage on a 1:4 rotation
