In this role, the Cardiothoracic Physician Assistant (PA-C) will spend approximately half of their time in the operating room (OR), actively assisting in complex cardiac and thoracic surgical procedures. The position requires proficiency in endoscopic vessel harvesting (EVH) and radial artery harvesting, as these are essential technical skills needed to support the surgical team’s objectives. The role extends beyond the OR, encompassing daily participation in multidisciplinary intensive care unit (ICU) rounds, and ensuring patients receive high-quality, patient-centered care throughout their hospital journey.

Cardiothoracic Physician Assistant (PA-C) - Summary- Full-time contract role supporting a small-volume cardiothoracic surgical program
- Approximately 50% of work time spent in the operating room
- Hands-on responsibilities in both surgical and critical care settings
- Engagement with a multidisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive patient care
- Provide direct surgical assistance in cardiothoracic procedures, including cardiac bypass and thoracic operations
- Perform endoscopic vessel harvesting (EVH) and radial artery harvesting as required
- Participate in daily multidisciplinary ICU rounds and contribute to patient management plans
- Oversee patient care throughout the perioperative period, including preoperative assessment and postoperative follow-up
- Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and allied health professionals
- Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of clinical activities and patient progress
- Ensure adherence to best practices, safety protocols, and regulatory standards
