In this contract role as a Cardiothoracic Physician Assistant PA-C, you will collaborate with two experienced cardiac surgeons and six advanced practice providers as part of a comprehensive cardiac surgery team. The position involves assisting in adult cardiothoracic surgeries such as coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), aortic valve replacement (AVR), mitral valve replacement (MVR), and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). You will play an integral role in preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care, contributing directly to improved patient outcomes. Your expertise in endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH) will be instrumental in supporting the surgical team and optimizing procedural efficiency.
This Cardiothoracic Physician Assistant PA-C contract opportunity begins in early November and is expected to last for six months, with potential flexibility for scheduling. You will work Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with occasional call responsibilities as required by the practice. The arrangement is structured as a 1099 contract, and travel expenses are covered to support your commitment to this impactful role.
Candidates must hold a valid Illinois Physician Assistant license, maintain current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification, and demonstrate proficiency in EVH. Prior experience in adult cardiothoracic surgery is preferred, and a strong team-based approach is essential for collaboration with multidisciplinary providers dedicated to outstanding cardiac care.
