This position is a locum tenens opportunity with flexible scheduling, allowing for either 2+ weeks per month or full-time coverage. Initial contracts may range from 3 to 6 months, with the option for extension based on mutual interest. The Cardiothoracic Physician Assistant (PA-C) will work closely with a distinguished team of cardiac surgeons and fellow advanced practice providers in a collaborative environment.
The ideal candidate will be a seasoned PA-C with significant experience in cardiothoracic surgery, particularly in first assisting for procedures such as CABG (coronary artery bypass grafting) and valve repairs. The surgical program boasts a long-standing reputation, encompassing over three decades of excellence, and currently performs 6-8 cardiac surgeries weekly. The Cardiothoracic Physician Assistant (PA-C) will also serve as a mentor and resource for peers with less experience, contributing to the ongoing education and support of the clinical team.
In addition to operative responsibilities, the Cardiothoracic Physician Assistant (PA-C) will provide essential patient care in the ICU and on the surgical floor, managing patients throughout the pre-operative and post-operative phases. Familiarity with advanced cardiac support devices, such as Maquet, is highly valued, as is the ability to adapt to a dynamic healthcare environment.
