As a Cardiothoracic Physician Assistant (PA-C), you will play an essential role in perioperative and intraoperative patient care, collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team of surgeons, nurses, and clinical staff to ensure the highest standard of patient outcomes.

The Cardiothoracic Physician Assistant (PA-C) will be responsible for assisting in a wide variety of complex cardiothoracic surgical procedures, providing advanced patient care in both operative and non-operative settings, and participating in patient management from preoperative evaluation to postoperative follow-up. In this full-time contract position, you will work a flexible 3:12s weekly schedule, typically from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with some flexed shifts as required. Participation in call rotation is expected, with 2-3 shifts weekly and 1-2 weekends per month.

Cardiothoracic Physician Assistant (PA-C) - Summary

Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist attending cardiothoracic surgeons in all phases of patient care, including operative, perioperative, and postoperative management
- Perform endoscopic vessel harvesting (EVH) and/or radial artery harvesting as required
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including histories, physical exams, and evaluation of diagnostic studies
- Provide patient education and counseling to patients and families regarding procedures, care plans, and postoperative expectations
- Participate in call rotation, including 2-3 shifts weekly and 1-2 weekends per month
- Document patient care activities thoroughly and accurately in the electronic medical record
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including nurses, anesthesiologists, and other specialists, to optimize patient care
- Maintain compliance with all hospital policies, protocols, and regulatory requirements

Qualifications & Requirements
- Active Physician Assistant license in California (CA)
- Board Certification required (NCCPA certified)
- Master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program
- Demonstrated experience with endoscopic vessel harvesting (EVH) and/or radial artery harvesting
- Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and procedural skills in cardiothoracic surgery
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
