The Cardiothoracic Physician Assistant (PA-C) will benefit from a supportive team structure with four full-time surgeons, seven operating Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), and three Nurse Practitioners (NPs) handling weekend coverage, consults, and clinic responsibilities. The surgical team performs over 600 cardiac cases annually, averaging 2-4 cases per day, providing ample opportunities to develop and refine skills in cardiac surgery.

In this role, the Cardiothoracic Physician Assistant (PA-C) will serve as the first assist on all cases and will be responsible for harvesting veins or radial arteries for CABG procedures. The work schedule is structured for work-life balance, featuring four 10-hour shifts per week, typically involving 2-3 operating room shifts and one floor shift. Every seventh week, the PA-C will have a dedicated week in the ICU from Monday to Thursday, with Friday off. Weekend coverage is minimal, with on-call responsibilities rotating about once every 6th or 7th week, depending on staffing levels and vacations. There are no in-house calls, and calls are managed from home, primarily covering OR callbacks and patient inquiries from various sources.
