Working primarily in the operating room, you will bring your expertise in endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH) to support first or second assist duties in adult cardiac surgery. The position is structured to offer a blend of surgical and clinical responsibilities, with approximately 80-90% of your time dedicated to the operating room and the remaining 10-20% focused on clinic or in-patient care management. The work schedule typically follows a 4x10 hour shift rotation, with additional rotating call responsibilities to ensure comprehensive patient coverage.
The ideal Cardiothoracic Physician Assistant (PA-C) candidate will demonstrate proficiency in EVH and have a solid foundation in managing perioperative cardiac patients. Experience with radial artery harvest is valued but not mandatory. When not directly assisting in surgery, you will collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams to manage patient care on the floor and in clinic settings. The ability to respond to surgical call within a 45-minute radius is essential for providing timely, high-quality patient care.
