The Cardiothoracic Physician Assistant (PA-C) plays a vital role within a leading cardiac surgery group, providing advanced clinical support across a full continuum of care for patients undergoing complex cardiac and thoracic procedures. As a Cardiothoracic Physician Assistant (PA-C), you will function as a first assist in a wide range of cardiac, vascular, and thoracic surgeries. Your expertise will be essential in cases such as coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), aortic and mitral valve replacements, minimally invasive cardiac surgeries, aortic dissection repairs, thoracotomies, video-assisted thoracic surgeries (VATS), and robotic thoracic procedures. This contract includes a comprehensive package covering paid travel, mileage, rental car, and malpractice insurance. The Cardiothoracic Physician Assistant (PA-C) will work in close partnership with cardiac surgeons, critical care physicians, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes throughout the perioperative period.

Responsibilities extend beyond the operating room, encompassing daily ICU rounds, managing critically ill patients, conducting patient consultations, and providing education on treatment plans, preventative care, and postoperative recovery. The role offers significant independence within the scope of physician supervision, embracing the full potential of the physician assistant profession. You will have opportunities to perform advanced procedures such as endoscopic vein and radial artery harvests, femoral artery cut downs, central and arterial line placements, intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) management, and chest tube insertions and removals.
