As a key member of the cardiothoracic surgical team, you will provide comprehensive patient care across the full continuum—operating room, intensive care unit, and clinic settings.
The Cardiothoracic Physician Assistant (PA-C) role encompasses a broad range of responsibilities including surgical first assist, inpatient and outpatient management, and procedural duties. Working closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nursing staff, you will help drive exceptional outcomes for patients requiring cardiothoracic interventions. As part of Palm Health Resources’ locum team, you will experience a supportive work culture that values collaboration, professional growth, and high-quality patient care. The full-time schedule is structured around day shifts, Monday through Friday, with a minimum commitment of 40 hours per week. You will also participate in on-call coverage, including one day during the week and one weekend per month, ensuring a well-rounded clinical experience.

Cardiothoracic Physician Assistant (PA-C) - Summary- Ongoing contract opportunity for an experienced Cardiothoracic Physician Assistant (PA-C)
- Full continuum of care: Operating Room, ICU, and Clinic responsibilities
- Supportive, collaborative team environment
- Exposure to advanced cardiothoracic surgical procedures
- Provide surgical first assist for cardiothoracic procedures, including endoscopic vein harvesting
- Perform critical care tasks such as pulling chest tubes, placing wires, and managing intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP)
- Conduct patient consultations, round in the ICU and stepdown units, and manage patient discharges
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation using EMR (Ecw)
- Participate in on-call coverage as scheduled (one weekday and one weekend per month)
- Deliver high-quality, compassionate care in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
- Support patient and family education throughout the care continuum
- Ensure adherence to hospital protocols and best clinical practices

- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
- Current NCCPA certification (PA-C)
- Proven experience in cardiothoracic surgery, including proficiency in endoscopic vein harvesting
- Strong skills in critical care management (chest tubes, wires, IABP)
- Experience with EMR systems (Ecw preferred)
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in high-stress clinical environments
