As a Cardiothoracic Physician Assistant (PA-C), you will be responsible for providing direct patient care in both preoperative and postoperative settings. You will also function as the primary first assistant during a variety of surgical procedures, such as coronary artery bypass grafting, aortic and mitral valve replacements, and minimally invasive cardiac surgeries. The scope of practice will also include endoscopic vein and radial artery harvests, femoral artery cut downs, thoracotomies, video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS), and robotic thoracic procedures. This role is essential in ensuring seamless surgical workflows and optimal patient outcomes in a state-of-the-art cardiac program.

Cardiothoracic Physician Assistant (PA-C) - Summary
- Serve as a key surgical team member, providing first assistance in a wide spectrum of cardiothoracic and vascular surgical cases.
- Deliver comprehensive perioperative care to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Duties & Responsibilities
- First assist in all assigned cardiac, vascular, and thoracic surgeries, including complex adult cardiac procedures.
- Perform endoscopic vein and radial artery harvesting for coronary artery bypass procedures.
- Execute femoral artery cut downs as needed.
- Support minimally invasive cardiac and thoracic surgeries, including thoracotomies and robotic-assisted cases.
- Participate in preoperative patient assessments, intraoperative support, and postoperative care management.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, perfusionists, nurses, and other allied health professionals to ensure seamless surgical care delivery.
- Document patient encounters and surgical procedures accurately and in compliance with clinical protocols.
- Maintain compliance with institutional policies and regulatory standards.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Valid and unrestricted Physician Assistant (PA-C) license.
- Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
- Demonstrated experience as a first assist in cardiothoracic and vascular surgeries.
- Proficiency in endoscopic vein and radial artery harvesting procedures.
- Strong clinical documentation skills and familiarity with perioperative protocols.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
